Thursday night, Allen Roberts of Middletown (OH) High School, one of the best high school players in the state, made another unofficial visit to Miami to watch the Miami-Vanderbilt football game. Roberts did not come with the absolute intention of committing. However, during the entire game fellow combo guard and Miami commit Orlando Williams kept pressuring Roberts to commit. Full Story

2009 center Drew McGhee from North Ridgeville High School is one of Miami’s most important recruiting targets this year. McGhee, who hails from northern Ohio, has narrowed his schools down to just four. Three of the four will get in for an official visit. The fourth school is up in the air. Full Story

Jonathan Smith, a 2009 6-7, 185 pound power forward, is one of the top seniors-to-be in central Ohio. Last year for Grove City High School outside of Columbus, Smith averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Next season, Smith is looking for Grove City to do some damage. Smith said, “I will have good senior year because of the coaches and the seniors returning.” Full Story

Marquis Horne, a 2009 6-7, 200 pound wing forward, is one of the at least four NCAA Division I caliber players from Princeton High School being looked at by the Miami basketball staff. He is a teammate of three other Vikings (SF/PF Stephon Johnson, CG Orlando Williams, and 2G Jordan Siebert) who will make up the core of one of the favorites to win the Ohio Division I state championship in 2009. Ohio 2009 center Drew McGhee has drawn the attention of many schools this spring playing AAU ball for CBIZ. He helped his club to the Super Sixteen title beating All-Ohio Force in the finals during the weekend of May 17th and 18th. He earned all-tournament honors for his play in that tournament. Later in July, CBIZ will travel to Las Vegas and play in front of coaches from across the country. Full Story

The 2007-08 basketball version of the Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller Crusaders was considered the best team in Ohio. It seemed a return trip to the state title game and a repeat state title was inevitable. However, due to the play of Trotwood Madison’s 2G Aaron Robinson, Moeller never even made it to the Sweet Sixteen. Full Story
